Choice of technique

In applying the traditional materials and methods of painting my work should, intentionally, display the human hand through which the visions are expressed.

Materials

Although in the past I have worked with a variety of materials from wax to water colour, I prefer oil paints, either on panel or linen. Some motifs and environments are best expressed in water colour. Especially Cambridge, UK, lent itself to the delicate and transparent qualities of watercolor. Others environments call for stronger, saturated tones, such as the sunny Californian and Australian environments. Scientific subject matter offers a choice of environments, thereby lending itself to a variety of painterly materials and techniques, especially if including the conceptual topics.

Sizes

The size of the paintings typically range from ca. 40x40 cm to ca. 200x200 cm.
