From 1982 through 1989 I was engaged as cartoonist and graphic artist for a range of companies, especially publishers. At this time I published under my other name, Rudolf or Rudi. The cartoons, illustrations and the Science Art were in terms of content and clients closely intertwined.
For example "Mic and Mac" was a monthly cartoon for Trends in Biochemical Sciences depicting the life of the lab scientist, Mac and his bacterial friend, Mic. The International Journal of Industrial Biotechnology, a monthly publication issued by Rod Greenshields from Cardiff University, also issued 2 or three cartoons a month. This work was accompanied by a rapidly growing clientel for commercial graphics, from journal covers through to iillustrations and even business cards.
The selection below includes examples from the two cartoon series Mic and Mac, By the Bio and others.
